Gym...here we go..

Gym...its a another environment where you see people working hard...besides in their career!
Exercising by itself defines a lot, for e.g;
a) Health conscious
b) stress release
c) Physique conscious
d) Relations (don't be amazed quite a lot of new buddies you could get through exercising..)
e) Lose weight (you see some who just come to lose weight..for many reasons!)
We are just gonna concentrate about gym and basic cardio workouts and little straight forward diet control !

What is a gym??
Gym is a place where people exercise, work out, tone up..and even work
There are some gyms with machines(electronic stuffs), some without latest gadgets but still prevails with traditional weights...but both will have weights and basic machines for any weight lifting exercises. Quite true, will be able to see cardio machines as well, like treadmill and static cycles!

Why go gym?
Well, simple, 1st you cant afford to own all the stuffs in the gym at your house, im not discouraging you from owning one but, its just not that necessary to own a complete gym.
2ndly, the mood and environment, when you go to gym, you go with one motive, one objective that is to sweat! So, when you see other doing so, you get motivated! And of course no distractions..well girls do distract you at the gym..but at the same time they motivate you too!!
3rdly, there will be people at gym, trainers, how would guide you all the way to achieve your objective of going to gym!

How to start off?
Most gyms, they have packages for what and why you are there...your aim...and based on that you can always choose..but there are people who would like to just go and get done something without any restrictions...or some gyms there will only be a personal trainer but no packages..so for these sort of gyms i will guide you what to do...
Well, when we say gym, its always a slow process, nothing could be achieved overnight! That has to be remembered!
Slowly, step by step, you would move...whether its gonna be the speed of a snail or tortoise that doesn't matter, what matter's would be the devotion and discipline..
When you are up for something do it with whole heart!
Im not saying you have to devote you full evenings or mornings in the gym, all im saying is that you have to discipline yourself and help yourself in what you wanna gain!
Ones in gym, you would see lots of tools...all are fascinating, you might wanna take a tour or just start off...remember step by step!
1st- Always alert your muscles and joints what their about to work on...how?? simple, a warm -up is always a must
STRETCH! move all your joints...first know your body well...what are the major muscles in arm, forearm, thighs, leg...then you will know what exercise suits you well and which group of muscles will work!
After stretching, now we are gonna move ahead, if you are aiming for losing weight, then grab the bike or treadmill...I mean CARDIO will be the best..select on, if you are gonna cycle, watch out with your knee, if you are gonna use the treadmill, if you think you are old, then just have an evening walk rather than treadmill-ing! You have to choose what suits you, although most treadmill could be adjusted based on individual needs, so find out!
When you are about to do cardio, remember, never think of lifting weights after your cardio, atleast not those hi-fi stuffs like bench press or muscle workouts! This mite tire you more and we are talking of exhaustion and after cardio your full body might be exhausted..

So, keep weights for another day...remember we have seven days in a week, and not necessary you have to finish all in one day, the gym ain't running anywhere or tomorrow will never die!

Cardio, we have cycling and i said treadmill, dont force yourself, after a tiring working day, you would like to sweet a bit and release your stress, a fine 30minutes of treadmill will do great, then if you wish, you could hop on a static cycle and pedal your knee away!

30minutes only?? what am i gonna do after that??
As i said, exhaustion is never a way to gain things! Hard work is a must but, not till you are fully worn out! That doesn't work either! In a gym, we have lots of stuffs..after treadmill, you could always use your own body weight to do ample amount of exercises..
Sit-ups, push ups, hopping, squats, yoga, and plenty more!
You could also use the dumbell, the moderate weight, to do some muscle workouts as well as to tone your abdomen!

Try not to drink cold water during or immediately after CARDIO (running, jogging, or walking), we need good blood supply to the worked muscles...ice water is a no no!

Your Diet plays an important role and has to be changed ones you are into toning your body!
Remember its a rule of five:
a) Stop fried stuffs
b) Break your current eating pattern to 6 portions in a day
c) Drink plenty of water
d) No to fatty foods, chocolates, cream stuffs, cheese...
e) More vegetables and fruits to be added to all portions!

U must see a drop in your weight as you go on, although its gonna be a slow process, but a small drop will encourage you even more, and that's the most important thing to boost you up!
i could assure you, free jogging coupled with a proper diet in a proper portion could see you sailing in the right direction for both losing your weight and toning your body!

To get motivated just look at your friends WHO ARE GOOD IN PHYSIQUE and also movie stars who maintain their body well for their career...remember, your partner would want you to look good, and that will make you happy!

Just, a little hard work a day, then you will see how useful, healthy, and the feeling you would get is like nothing could ever be compared too
Later, exercising will become part of your daily routine and you would always want yourself to be a role model to others!!

Keep those muscles working! Keep those skin sweating, keep your heart pounding...they would bring you to a new destiny...a new meaning to your life!!

All the very best...start now!!...or its never!!

Live our life!!

Its always whether we live or we dont!!

There are few things important in our life...and in that few are essential and must!

Lets see...of course food and water is essential!! Lets exclude them...others??

Friendship??

Love??

Ambition??

Money??

Family??

Job??

......and lots more..

But there are something which are more important in life...in due to attain the above mentioned essentials...or so called essentials to lead a life...there is something to be topped up...

DETERMINATION and WILL POWER!!

What are those??

When you are thirsty...you wanna have a cup of water...you start thinking where to go and where to squash your thirst...

The thinking and planning to get to the water source is the DETERMINATION and the whole process of driving you to drink the water and which is inside you will be known as the WILL POWER!

To attain success and to live up in your life...the two GODs are necessary...ups and downs are common in life...to hurdle them across, you definitely need determination and will power !

When we miss someone, we feel depressed and at times human nature...we will tend to break down..but something in you will force you to pull of your socks and move on with life...and thats the WILL POWER im talking about!!

There are lots of way to "dehydrate" your will power...for instance:

a) Morale from a real life incident

b) Pearl of life

c) Advice

d) consistent support from your loved ones

e) Self...

Out of all, regaining confidence in SELF is the most important aspect to get back your will power..

We see commonly individuals become suicidal when they undergo maximum level of depression.

These are the individuals who lack of any support to climb back and stand on their feet!

Reasons given: Love failure, bankruptcy, losing loved ones, career failure...and now days because of failing in exams!!

We must understand that without the presence of failure, there will be no one day where success will even knock your front door!

Remember, we have to walk front and not back in due to attain what we want! The more you put your tiny steps backward...the rate of failing would be high!

A nice story to be mentioned here at this point of time..

Ones, a crow was damn thirsty, it saw a jug partly filled with water, crows are generally genius as they work hard daily to survive every other day!. Knowing that the water might pour if the jug is pushed down and knowing that its beak might not reach the water..the cracked out a plan..

And from here we all know what happened dont we??

The crow started putting in stones little by little, one by one...the water then surfaced and the crow became successful in squashing its thirst!

How many of us really understood the morale behind this short story?

Lets analyse one more time!

1st..its not an human to think as vast!

2nd...the crow is so thirsty....this is forcing the crow to think of something...determination

3rd..the stones...small...and one by one...this tells us...success will by putting up small steps and is slow process

4th..water surfacing...the ultimate result of success by just stopping for a while and thinking what to be done!! and when the mind says DO IT!...this is the will power!!

When a crow can...why cant humans!!

And at the end, the crow is living its life!!

But, we humans...kill ourselves for a small back drop??

I wouldn't be surprised if the snail, the frog, the cockroach, the hen, the crow, the crocodile, one day laugh out loudly seeing humans fail to survive in a fit competitive world!!

And all i could think of is...all these people do not have the crust....THE DETERMINATION and WILL POWER!

I would finish with one saying...from the bright whom brought the light to this world, Thomas Alve Edison!

He says, a man doesnt know how close he was to success when he gave up!

So, guys...never give up...stay focused and show your determination on things you tend to do...the nature says it..when the clouds are dark...it will rain...so do we....when we put up a little hard work..we will get what we worked for!

Remember...success is just a door away..make sure it knocks your door the next...all by your WILL POWER!!

All the Best!

StudYinG Medicine...a little

Hi friends, this will be my first post, the beginning of the start...I hope!
We are gonna see what studying medicine is all about..

Im a final year medical student at AIMST University, Malaysia, around 5 years ago, i was still in a dilemma whether to choose this course or not...
To tell you frankly, medicine is not a course, its a field where you are about to explore the truth of body physiology and its mechanism on how it will and going to react when it is disturbed..

Its a world of war (disease), where you will be the chief commander (doctor), fighting outside to save the life in which the war is happening (the human body)!!
So, tell you know, if you are not ready to participate in commanding a victory, saving lives..then please stop thinking about doing medicine!

Medicine, is just not all about saving lives, but its about talking to someone and understanding the core of a problem being suffered by fellow human(s)!
Medical doctors(drs) and lawyers are the best counsellors available, in that drs are superior as they understand human psychology better!

In all aspect, drs are regarded as the highest standing profession...whether you are a President of a country or a popper in the street, when you r sick, you meet the doc.!
So, as how it sounds being a doctor...thats how will the course, opps....the field will be!!

In Malaysia, medicine is a five years programme, in most place it is so...some Universities (overseas) require you to do some additional years..
Ultimately, medicine is divided into two parts
a) Pre clinical
b) Clinical
Pre clinical comprises of basic science that you require to fill the actual puzzle later when you treat a patient.

The subjects covered will be:
i) Anatomy: Basically, what and how a human body looks like...you will get to see whats beneath the skin, the muscles..vessels...nerves....bones...just with your naked eyes...it will be awesome!
ii)Biochemistry: Well, its totally different from combining the O level's biology and chemistry, the words, together! The core of biochem will be about how the chemicals in our body works, it will also reveal what will happen if the values of the chemicals are disturbed! Fascinating subject, ones you like it...you will never hate it..but its also vice versa!
iii)Physiology: Simply, if its not because of body physics your heart will not be pounding as you are reading my POST! Every single act, movement, sound, rate in a human body is explained in physiology! An abnormal physiology leads to...PATHOLOGY!!
iv)Pathology: about diseases..and here u will learn what CANCER is all about..and how a swelling appears and why at times its REDDISH!! By the way..secret...CANCER is also known as MALIGNANCY (word used by drs not to hurt patient(s) feelings, during a case discussion in front of the patient!
v) Pharmacology: You love BioChemistry?? This subject has a lot of correlation with it! No pharmaco...no drugs...no CURE!Physiology and Biochemistry are most important when a drug is prescribed!
vi) Microbiology: Common, without knowing how and what causes a disease...what are you gonna treat then?? Micro..as how it sounds...is reading about small livings and how disastrous it could be! Dengue is caused by?? the vector?? Malaria?? heard?? Know the life cycle of the Plasmodium Falcipuram?? Well, we dun even know our own life cycle rite?? why bother about microbes?? But too bad...you have to! As long as MICROBES live...DRS live...and they live happily ever after!

So...these are the preclinical subjects!

By the time you complete your first two years in medical school, you will be devastated and will be thinking when this is gonna end! Im so sorry, you still have the major part, THE CLINICAL years ahead...uncompleted!

But, by the time you complete the 1st two years, your preclinicals, you will be matured enough to think and the programme would have moulded you in way for you to undergo the next important phase! the CLINICALs!
Throughout the phase..you will encounter lots of assessment (depending on universities), and you will be stressed out looking for time to adjust yourself, emphasizing your studies and sacrificing your interest and rest periods!
Tell you one thing, in Medicine...only patients REST, and we WORK for their REST!!

Indulging yourself in medicine with passion will bring you to an edge where others will salute, you will realise it when things happen like what i have said..
My experience, in this five years, i have gained a lot of self respect and now i have my friends and others calling me asking my opinion on their health matters...

Well, it ultimately depends on how you are looking to it! Its true its a tiring course, you have to sacrifice a lot..but end result, you will be known by the post Dr..so and so!

I will be back with Clinical phase...till then take a decision wisely...don't make the medical world loose a dr to be like you, if you think so...
Work hard and it pays you well at the end!!
Adios, stay tuned...-S.Pala
